Fortnite Chapter 4 Season OG is off to a flying start, as more players than ever are hopping onto the servers for a hit of nostalgia.
Fortnite has released Chapter 4 Season OG, which brings back the iconic map from the game’s first chapter, as well as a selection of classic weapons, items, and even cosmetics.
This has led to major hype among the community, as many associate Fortnite’s first chapter as the golden age of Fortnite, and the time that ultimately turned it into the hugely successful live service game that it is today.
In fact, Season OG has pulled on so many heartstrings that Fortnite even reached a new all-time player peak just after the update arrived.
Fortnite reaches new all-time peak player count with Season OG
As highlighted by Shiina on X, Fortnite has reached a “new all-time player peak,” surpassing 3,300,000 people playing the game at any one time. This is the highest player peak since Epic Games began publishing their stats.
At the time of writing, the player peak almost reached 4,000,000, as it hit 3,913,817 on November 3, 2023, according to Fortnite.GG.
This is a hell of a lot of players, and while Fortnite may not maintain these kind of numbers for the whole season, it just goes to show how popular the original Fortnite map and Chapter was.
The huge spike in player count has also caused some “big a** queues,” as one comment under Shiina’s post read, so some may be waiting before they can experience the OG season of Fortnite.
We’ll have to wait and see if Epic Games can maintain the attention, but as the game has evolved so much since the original chapter, it’s hard for the game to truly feel like the original experience.
