Fortnite Chapter 5 has been stacked so far, bringing the long-awaited Family Guy collab as well as a host of weapons and gadgets that have completely mixed up the pace of matches. The devs have also been keeping things fresh with regular updates, with each one adding brand-new content.
The next of these updates as we head toward Chapter 5 Season 2 is v28.20, which is set to double down on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle crossover.
Here are the early patch notes for the Fortnite 28.20 update, including when it could be released.
Fortnite 28.20 update expected release date & downtime
Epic Games are yet to announce when the Fortnite 28.20 update will arrive, but it’s expected to drop on Friday, February 9, 2024. It was originally expected on Tuesday, February 6, in keeping with the usual update schedule, but fans were surprised when it never came.
Based on past patches, the downtime will begin at 12 AM PST / 3 AM EST / 8 AM GMT and could last for anywhere up to three hours. During this time, the servers will be offline and players will be unable to log in.
Fortnite 28.20 update brings TMNT event
The devs have confirmed that the Fortnite 28.20 update will bring a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles event, following the release of their skins earlier in the season. The event will get underway on February 9 and although full details haven’t been shared, leaks may have revealed what to expect.
According to ‘ShiinaBR,’ the TMNT collab event will bring new skins for players to unlock, one of which is expected to be Shredder, the Turtles’ most notorious villain. These can be earned by completing new challenges that will be added to the Quest tab.
It will also reportedly come with a host of map changes, likely to the sewers found around the island, as well as themed Mythics and the Pizza Party item.
Fortnite 28.20 leaks claim Augments could return
Fortnite leakers Shiina and iFireMonkey have also revealed that Augments could return in the 28.20 update. These Perks were introduced back in Chapter 4, allowing players to choose up to three random buffs throughout a match, such as faster reload speeds or even a Siphon ability.
TMNT Augments could also be included, but it is all “depending on Epic’s re-evaluation” of whether or not the perks should be brought back.
