After months of speculation, Nartuo is now finally a part of Fortnite, with its own Creative hub and cosmetics – as the end of an era looms.
The rumours and leaks were all true and Fortnite has just started a celebration of manga and anime series Naruto, with its own skins, cosmetic items, and a dedicated Creative hub.
You can now play as Naruto Uzumaki himself, as well as Sasuke, Sakura, and Kakashi. That’s more characters than was initially expected and you can even glide to the island on the back of Kurama, the Nine-Tailed Beast.
Also being added to the game are a paper bomb kunai, snake sword, demon wind shuriken back bling, and a raft of ninja-themed quests. And then, in Creative mode, there’s a full-on recreation of Hidden Leaf Village, which is a level of effort few other crossovers have ever got.
If you neither know nor care what Naruto is then none of that will mean much to you, but the v18.40 update is bringing other changes with it as well.
For a start, it’s the last one of this season and may well be the last of this entire chapter of Fortnite, as rumours continue that Chapter 3 will start sooner than expected and introduce a whole new map.
Chapter 3 has been rumoured for a while now, but suspiciously the new patch notes are filled with references to Chapter 1 Season X – the last one before the switch to Chapter 2.
Season X’s Brute mechs are also returning to the game soon, as is the shopping cart vehicle. The Cube Queen’s cube is also turning into a pyramid, which matches up exactly with rumours about the end of the chapter.
Christmas still seems an odd time to switch over but everything else points towards Fortnite Chapter 3 happening before the end of the year.
