Fortnite Season 5 still has more than a month left, but streamer and YouTuber SypherPK is predicting that the next season will be a part of Chapter 3.
We’re into the back half of Fortnite Season 5, but it’s proving to be one of the longest seasons of Fortnite. This isn’t unusual, as holiday seasons are often longer than normal seasons.
Chapter 2 has featured longer seasons than Chapter 1 did, in general, with the first two season combining to last for nearly a year.
For this reason – along with a few plot points – Fortnite streamer and YouTuber SypherPK is predicting that the next Fortnite season will be Chapter 3 Season 1 rather than Chapter 2 Season 6.
In a video uploaded to his YouTube channel, Sypher explained that if Chapter 2 lasted 10 seasons, it would bring us to 2023 before a new chapter began.
“Chapter 1 – the old map – took about 24 months to complete. Chapter 2, on the other hand, is already on 18 months. If we go through all the rest of the seasons until X, we’ll be on this chapter until 2023,” Sypher explained. “I feel like that’s a very long time. It could make things boring without having a full, fresh reset.”
Sypher went on to describe how Agent Jonesy has changed throughout the season, and how he appears to be transforming into the Default Jonesy we’ve seen since the game first began.
This is an interesting theory, but not one that we necessarily agree with. Sypher is onto a few things, here, but we don’t think it means that we’ll see a new Chapter anytime soon.
First, from a development perspective, Epic developers have already talked about the limitations of the old map when compared to the new one. The reason that map only lasted 24 months was because the development team wanted to move on to a bigger and better platform.
We may see Chapter 2 stick around a lot longer, as the developers are capable of creating more mechanics to this one.
We agree that Jonesy is transforming into…
