Fortnite’s newest season is almost here, and it seems we just got our newest hint about what it may involve. On Friday, the Fortnite Twitter account tweeted a video of the Fortnite logo with an image of Thor inside it, and the Marvel logo underneath, along with a few possibly-Thor-related emoji, and the new season’s start date.
Unfortunately, as usual we don’t have much more info than the tweet itself as to what this could be about. The tweet does include a date, Aug. 27, which is the day that Fortnite season 4 is set to begin. The hammer, lighting, and rainbow emoji, which certainly seem to point to Thor, could mean that he’s going to be the superhero skin that players can unlock this season, like Deadpool and Aquaman in the previous two seasons, or it could be something larger.
Since the Marvel logo is included here with the Fortnite logo, it’s possible this tweet could be hinting at a Marvel-themed Fortnite battle pass, or even an entire Marvel-themed season, but there’s really no way to know until Epic makes an official announcement.
Whatever the connection is, this won’t be the first time that the Marvel Universe has made its way into Fortnite — or vice-versa. Marvel’s first big foray into Fortnite was when Thanos arrived in 2018 to promote the theatrical release of Avengers: Infinity War. Since then, Marvel characters have shown up in skins and game modes a couple more times, but it’s usually just for limited engagements. There was even a crossover with the upcoming Marvel’s Avengers video game for the beta a few weeks ago.
One thing that’s worth noting is that this doesn’t seem to be connected to the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder, or even the version of Thor that’s in the Marvel’s Avengers game. Instead, the Thor in the Fortnite logo here appears to be directly from the latest run of the Thor comics. In fact, it’s most similar to the issue that came out on Aug. 19.
