Epic Games responds to FaZe Jarvis Fortnite ban

Epic Games has responded to the FaZe Jarvis ban, opening up about their decision to ban the Fortnite player and what his future may hold.

The banning of professional Fortnite player FaZe Jarvis sparked discussion in the Fortnite community over cheating. When is it okay? Can some cheating be forgiven? Does intent matter?

For those who don’t know, Jarvis was permanently banned on Fortnite for using an aimbot in solo games and Playground Mode. He was playing on an alt account for a YouTube video at the time, but received a ban across all of his Fortnite accounts, including his main.

The ban split the Fortnite community. A lot of streamers and pro players came to Jarvis’ defense, while others agree that Epic should have a zero-tolerance policy for hacking in Fortnite. Here’s a video of Reverse2k and Ninja debating the length of Jarvis’ ban.

The back in forth in this video shows the two sides of the argument over FaZe Jarvis’ ban. Some think it’s overkill, while others think that Epic should treat everyone the same – even popular content creators.

Fortnite fans were wondering whether Epic would stick to their guns or reduce the ban upon further review. An Epic spokesperson spoke to The Sun and doubled-down on their decision to ban Jarvis.

“We have a zero-tolerance policy for the usage of cheat software,” they said. “When people use aimbots or other cheat technologies to gain an unfair advantage, they ruin games for people who are playing fairly.”

Jarvis uploaded an emotional seven-minute video on the topic, apologizing for using the hacks and expressing that he didn’t know the ban would be this severe.

The Fortnite community remains split on this issue, but Epic has confirmed their decision. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
